RYA Courses

Get skills, get experience, get qualified

Challenge Wales is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre and we can help you with a wide range of sailing courses.

For further details of the practical and shore based sailing courses offered by Challenge Wales, when they are happening and details on prices, please see the course schedule.

This is perfect for those who want to gain more experience of sailing, increase their sea time or for those looking for a sailing qualification. If you are a young persons group or school and undertaking sailing activity with us then you may find that your group can achieve a sailing qualification, on Challenge Wales, as well as learning life skills – at little or no extra cost.

The courses will take place using either Challenge Wales, a 72-ft yacht, or a smaller cruising yacht (around 40ft).

The RYA sailing courses; Start Yachting, Competent Crew and Watch Leader are offered on the Challenge Wales yacht. For those wishing to undertake Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Yacht Master courses these will be undertaken on a smaller yacht. Some Competent Crew courses may also be undertaken on a smaller yacht in conjunction with Challenge Wales to give the students a richer training experience.

The courses listed below are available through the Challenge Wales Training Centre. This includes both practical and theory courses.

How to book: To book a place on a course or to discuss the course further please email: reservations@challengewales.org or call 029 21 25 10 40, and advise us of which course you wish to do and the dates so that we can check availability and advise of start and finish times.
