A voyage of discovery…
Challenge Wales will be sailing in local Welsh waters, around the UK and further a field so there will be lots of opportunities to be part of the crew. You will also have the opportunity to see the boat and come aboard when we attend events and festivals in Wales and elsewhere.
As part of the crew you will be involved in almost all aspects of sailing the yacht, helping to set sails, learning how to cook for 18 hungry people and understanding navigation to name a few. The Challenge Sailing Experience:
A day on the water where you can feel the wind in the sails, see the power of the yacht moving through the water and experience the thrill of big boat sailing. Open to individual sailors and groups. The day is based out of Cardiff Bay although other locations may be available subject to the sailing schedule and demand. A typical Challenge Sailing Experience day is:
- 0930 – Arrival at pontoon, tour of the yacht, tea and biscuits
- 1000 – Safety briefing by Skipper and introduction of fellow crew mates
- 1020 – Depart pontoon, lock out of Cardiff Bay Barrage and into Bristol Channel
- 1300 – Working lunch while sailing
- 1645 – Return to pontoon.
Whether you are new to sailing and wondering whether big boat sailing is for you, more experienced or looking for an unusual gift for someone, the Challenge Sailing Experience Day would be ideal. Please note that additional Challenge Sailing Experience Days will be added throughout the year.
Sail and Curry, Portishead trips and more…
Our popular 4-hour sail and curry evening trips, from £65 per person, will be back in the schedule this year when the evenings are longer. However, we have some other novel sailing trips on the menu! Enjoy a 2 course lunch overlooking Portishead Marina - an ideal trip for Sunday lunch and an opportunity to sail from £100 per person. Ideal for individuals, couples and groups. Schools and Young People's Groups
Several trips are available and tailored to your groups requirements. From 1 day trips or an ‘Overnighter’, to a 3 day ‘Island Discovery’ learning about Lundy Island or a 5 day ‘Teambuilder’.
